How were they affected Socially ?
The fearless Danton.
The Reign of Terror affected the French Revolution socially by the separation of people who were with and against the revolution. The guillotine was used frequently for the use of punishment and execution. Many rules were made taking away the people’s freedom of speech. A man named Danton rose in the Convention to stop the terror. Fear of Danton reputation, the convention passed a decree stating that any person who insulted the court should be prohibited from speaking in their own defense. He was unable to speak in his defense. As Danton was escorted to the guillotine he remarked, ”Above all, don't forget to show my head to the people, it’s well worth having a look at”, modesty was never one of his virtues.
